Like I said on the opening page - my flash wasn't firing fast enough. The camera was ready for the next picture, but the flash hadn't recharged yet. Eventually I started getting the timing down better. While I got less blackened shots, I was forced to take pictures slower than I wanted to since I was waiting longer inbetween shots.
